The Sweatpant Entrepreneur

by Gig Girl on March 1, 2010

For the past week, I’ve been a self-titled “Sweatpant Entrepreneur”.  For those who may require a further visual, essentially I’ve been spending hours on my laptop post morning workout demonstrating the grown-up version of “playing office”.  I log in, I research, I make a ton of notes I never ever review and I slurp copious amounts of (as of yet unspiked) coffee.  Sounds impressive, right?

Surprisingly, even to myself, I have actually accomplished a few solid tasks while sitting at my desk sporting my finest Old Navy loungewear.  Based on some fantastic information from a good friend (and author of The Daisypatch), I have gotten the ball rolling on how to start a small home business (more on that later), I have begun the daunting task of researching online work from home “opportunities” (please envision the quotation marks as literally dripping with sarcasm…yes, that’s how well that endeavor is going) and I have continued to tool around on my favorite new toy:  The Gig Girl blog.

So a few tentative leads, but I see the overwhelming mountain of tasks just over the horizon.  I hear that little voice in my head again, completely unnerved, screaming, “It’s time to get serious!” YES! I respond.  “It’s time to get motivated!” I’M IN! I chant.  “It’s time to put on pants with a button waistband!” (Awkward silence)  Uhm…I was thinking that “Sweatpant Entrepreneur” would look kinda cool on my business card, little voice…

Thanks for the mention! Love The Gig Girl! I can just picture the sweats with a halo on one shoulder, the button-close slacks with horns and a pitchfork on the other. Long live the sweatpant drawstring. Consider it a lasso, not a noose.

Great job Cortney! I’m adding this blog to my “favorites” list…you have never backed down from a challenge…so I know you will succeed!

From one Courtney to another – and from one blogger to another – we are living the dream my friend. Great husbands, great kids, great families and the ability to pave our way however we choose. Who would have thunk?
